Or, How To Play It Cool
I arrived in abnormally hot and humid Singapore Friday evening, checking into my hotel and prepping for my London 2007 compadres’ arrival the next day. My solo night in Singapore was spent wandering the malls and having a Mos Burger, before finally ending up at The Raffles Hotel, where, like so many unsuspecting tourists, paid SGD$25 for a Singapore Sling.
Papa insisted that it was one of the things I just had to do while in Singapore. And I couldn’t have a Singapore Sling at the hotel I was staying, no, it had to be at its birthplace, the Raffles Hotel.
The next morning was perfect timing. I had obtained breakfast and, most importantly, Starbucks coffee (I LOVE YOU) just as Haz and Lil arrived. Snuck them up to the hotel room and made them shower. They smelled really bad after the overnight train ride.
We got ready and headed back down to Starbucks for more coffee, lunch, and checking out the stage door at the Esplanade Theatre.
We Will Rock You is, and always will be, the most awesome musical I have ever watched. The energy it gives out is electrifying, and when the audience responds, it’s better than a high.
This audience was amazing. Once again, our official We Will Rock You scarf (from London, was not sold in Singapore) ensured we were noticed. By the cast, and at one of the shops, when the salesgirl exclaimed, “You’re the guys with the scarf!! I was at the show just now, you guys were so cool!!”
We won points for awesome, and we haven’t even gotten to the stage door yet.
