On Friday, I returned from lunch with my colleagues to find a very bizarre email.
Some psychological consulting company I apparently applied for a job for when I was a penniless sitar player waaaaay back in 2006 invited me to attend a job interview. They sent a link to the ad, had a little spiel about what they are looking for in candidates (specifically, a Masters Degree in Organizational Psychology) and a whole lot of other things.
I just sat at my desk, blinking at the email like an idiot, thinking, what, you people look for me now?! And nobody goes through their resume archives, not anyone I know anyway.
It’s so trippy to receive that email at a time like this. It’s not that I dislike my job. Recently there were some small events that have made it a little depressing to be at work, but I imagine it’s just one of those things that will blow over in a couple of weeks. Plus, I have spoken to a couple of colleagues who have been just as annoyed with the outcome of those events, so I am not alone, and knowing that is enough.
The HR administrator (whose last day was Friday, hence the lunch) had taken a look at the email and suggested I go for the interview for curiosity’s sake, even though I currently have no intention of leaving, but if I don’t, I will keep wondering what I might have missed.
Well, it’s Sunday tomorrow, so I have another day to figure out what the hell my current job description is and update my resume before contacting the consultancy.
