England’s injury woes pre-World Cup

Posted on April 30, 2006 at 4:45 pm in

Rooney out with fractured 4th metatarsal on right foot. Estimated recovery time: six weeks. All things considered, he might miss England’s first game against Paraguay in the World Cup, maybe even the second, because you need to count his return to training and fitness to play.

Which leaves only Owen up front, and he’s a little shaky with his aggravated foot injury, although for now it seems all is well. John Terry copped a lovely ankle injury courtesy of Rooney, but he’ll be back in a week. And Gaz Neville also limped off after that defeat at Stamford Bridge. So that’s two injuries for England at the hands of the Blues. Chelsea gonna kena sial if England mess up. *grins*

But what do I care? I love all of Manchester United’s English players, but at international level? England is not my favourite. :D

Next season, please.

Sigh. I knew it. I knew it. I KNEW IT.

I just didn’t realise it’d be so humiliating. Next season, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United should all pakat to topple Moneybags. Where’s the fun if there isn’t a challenge?

[Edit] HAHA. If Rooney’s injury incapacitates him every England supporter will have something to say about Chelsea. 41 days to World Cup, people. HAHA.

Firefly/Serenity

Firefly is awefuckingsome. This fandom is payback for my inflicting Battlestar Galactica on Jules – so not a bad thing, but he thinks it is when we’re sending episodes back and forth, plus putting up with my omgarchiekennedyDIEDIEDIE tirades.

Oh yes, Firefly. Dude. So much love for Nate Fillion. Except when he’s butt-nekkid. Perky ass cheeks are scary. Eep. I would totally do Sean Maher in a deflowering the virgin boy sort of way. Plus Sir Lancelot piloting a spaceship? LOVE. Why did they have to cancel this show?

As for Serenity, serious issues there with some dead main characters. Cibaikia, that was a shock to the system. But. All is forgiven. Almost. With the outtakes.

More please!! In any shape or form!!

One week

Every person made this week far more bearable, maybe even memorable, or it would have made the week so damn sucky. Every little thing counted, what with the great highs and the heartbreaking lows. In no particular order.

Frank – for saying yes and making me laugh when he got his gift. Am I good or what? ;)

Seth – my lifeline to sanity when my laptop crashed thanks to a Microsoft update, of all things.

Prof Hartley – his guidance has been constant and it makes me sad to know I will hardly ever see the professor who showed me that I had what it takes to become a psychologist, despite the times I have disappointed him in the process.

Jen – despite her own issues at work, she took the time to advise, make contact and basically be an amazing help in my professional endevours. What goes around comes around, so I hope to see Jen out of that ridiculous work environment of hers soon.

Haz – keep telling yourself that, my dear. :P

Malaysia Public Services Department’s Cyber-Counselling programme.

What. The. Fuck.

Wtf does To assist our clients to think, feel, and behaviour(sic) in a collective manner according to situations mean? Collective manner? I’m getting a whole lot of conform-to-the-rule vibes there.

And don’t get me started on the rest of their objectives and benefits. To reduce timidity and shyness of our clients?! HAHAHAHAHA. I hope they’ve conducted a feasability study before embarking on this programme, and have accumulated enough feedback and conducted evaluations on its effectiveness. If you’re gonna do something, do it right, yes? Considering nothing beats speaking to a client face-to-face.

I suppose that is something to be said about the state of counselling within an Asian culture, especially one that places a stigma on individuals who seek psychological or psychiatric services. In fact, I doubt there are many internal or even external Employee Assistance Programmes attached to Malaysian organizations.
