If I’d learned to concede defeat

My patience has been sorely tested with the PHP sunrise/sunset calculator of this theme. I’m STARING AT THE FUCKING CODE EVERY FUCKING HOUR. Somehow it just doesn’t work when I key in Kuala Lumpur’s coordinates, which is pissing the hell out of me. I KNOW my coordinates are right. It does bring me to wonder if it has anything to do with the daylight savings time variable, since Kuala Lumpur obviously does not observe such a thing. The nighttime theme kicks in at 1pm KL time, and the daytime theme kicks in at about 2am, but even a daylight savings time variable shouldn’t be tossing the whole thing out of whack.

Right now, it’s responding to coordinates of MANCHESTER, UK. Nina claims it’s kismet. I agree, but I’M NOT IN BLOODY MANCHESTER RIGHT NOW!! Unless someone wants to give me a job there!!

What it took to customise this theme

I found this theme sometime ago, with a nifty PHP-based sunrise/sunset calculator, which I customised to reflect Kuala Lumpur’s time. Anyone remember SPM’s Math syllabus? Put it this way, I may have sucked royally at Math (and Add Maths), but damn, that chapter where you calculate latitude/longitude and all that shiznit? Some use finally came of it. And it will be the last. Unless anyone wants to buy me a plane?

The overall layout didn’t need tweaking AT ALL, but when I discovered the sidebar’s font issue with the default theme for daytime, I moved towards the extra daytime theme. And then, there were the comments page, still a little crude but at least it’s slightly more stylized now. I seriously suck at this.

Never let me deal with hardcore PHP or CSS again. *whimper*

[Edit] At the moment the time/day thing is STILL not working (despite messing with the latitude/longitude by keying in KL or London positions). I give up. I honestly do, because I DO NOT KNOW enough PHP or CSS. :(

A design thought

If I knew how to create Wordpress themes, what with the CSS file and its other incarnations that make up the entire blog (sidebar, header, footer, etc), I’d love to resurrect the layout Tiffie made for me sometime ago.

New everything

New domain, new host, new everything.

This has a good webhosting service. It’s cheap (i.e. Papa will not kill me when he sees the PayPal transaction on the credit card bill), has a good track record and I’m already getting used to their cPanel and other little ditties. But I installed Wordpress on my own because I wanted the latest version. I’m pathetic that way. :D
